If your bank card (see supported card brands below) does not require a pin number and has the contactless symbol , it should be accepted by the Umo Reader.
Not all agencies have implemented this feature. Please contact your local transit agency to confirm availability.
Upon boarding, check the Umo Reader screen for your card brand logo to confirm that your card is accepted.
- Supported card brands in the U.S.
: Visa, MC, Discover, JCB, (Depending on the agency, Amex may also be supported)
- Supported card brands in Canada
: Visa, MC, Interac (Discover, JCB, and Union Pay are not supported. Depending on the agency, Amex may also be supported)
Tap and Go:
- Choose your payment method.
- Tap your contactless card
at the Umo Reader.
- Wait for the "Success" screen and audible chime and take your seat. There is no need to tap your card again when you exit.
Troubleshooting
Tapped your bank card and were shown a "declined" screen?
- Tap your card again to pay your fare.
- If you are declined again, select a different method of payment.
Tips:
- If your card requires a pin number, it will not be accepted.
- Always remove your card from your wallet when tapping at a Umo Reader. If you tap your wallet containing multiple cards, you will be declined.
- If you are transferring to another vehicle, you must tap your card again upon boarding.
- Traveling with friends or family? After you have paid your fare at the Umo Reader, you can subsequently tap your bank card to pay for each companion.
